Hi @Arun S Pauer ,
I wanted to find out more about something you said that surprised me during the Body Movement and Isolation class last weekend.
You commented that the fast, footwork from an open position that we think of as really typical Dominican Bachata was actually introduced by teachers from the US, and that in the Dominican Republic its basically danced in a close, closed-position.
What I was interested in find out was; Who exactly brought in the fancy footwork and when? Was it Dominicans immigrants, were there influences from other dances? What were the forces driving it; changes in the music ... was the closed form too intimate?? etc.
Where can I find out more?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks!
