Chennai's August intensive runs two Bachata tracks back to back on Saturday evenings at Sukha Yoga & Wellness. Both build on bachata fundamentals — but take you in different directions.
Bachata Moderna: Saturdays, 6–7 PM
Brings the modern, urban edge to the classic Dominican rhythm — body movement, footwork patterns, and turn combinations that move beyond the basics. This track sharpens partner connection while introducing the contemporary styling that defines today's social dance floor. Pitched at Improver–Intermediate level — ideal if you've got the basics down and want to grow into a more expressive bachata.
Bachata Fusion & Sensual: Saturdays, 7–8 PM
Where bachata meets sensual storytelling. This track blends traditional bachata with the body waves, slow-motion isolations, and dramatic musicality of the sensual style — working on body movement quality, lead-follow tension, and musical interpretation that turns a dance into a moment. Pitched at Intermediate–Advanced — designed for dancers already comfortable with bachata fundamentals.
Which Should You Choose?
If you want sharper footwork, turns, and a more contemporary social style — Bachata Moderna
If you're drawn to slower, more expressive, storytelling-style movement — Bachata Fusion & Sensual
The back-to-back Saturday slots (6–7 PM, then 7–8 PM) mean both are realistic to take together
The Bigger Picture
Both tracks are part of the Salsa Madras 12th Anniversary Training Intensive with Arun — four weekends, 15 August through 6 September, at Sukha Yoga & Wellness Studio, 65 Greenways Rd, Bishop Garden, RA Puram, Chennai.
