Salsa ON1 vs ON2 in Chennai: Which August Intensive Should You Pick?

Both Salsa tracks in this August's intensive run on Sundays back to back at Sukha Yoga & Wellness — which makes it easy to do both, but if you're choosing just one, here's how to decide.

Salsa ON1: Sundays, 5–6 PM

The LA / cross-body style — danced on the 1, fast, clean, full of character. This track builds your foundation in cross-body lead patterns, partner turns, and footwork sharpness, with real focus on timing, frame, and musicality that lets you actually hear the salsa rather than just count it. Pitched at Improver–Intermediate level.

Salsa ON2: Sundays, 6–7 PM

The New York / mambo style — danced on the 2, known for smoothness, elegance, and intricate musicality. This track is for dancers ready to feel salsa differently: deeper breaks, cleaner shines, and the contramambo timing that distinguishes ON2 dancers worldwide. Pitched at Intermediate level.

Which Should You Choose?

  • If you're newer to salsa or want sharp, energetic footwork — start with ON1

  • If you already have solid fundamentals and want smoother, more musically intricate movement — go for ON2

  • If you're not sure, or want the full picture of both timing systems — the back-to-back Sunday slots make doing both genuinely practical

The Bigger Picture

Both tracks run as part of the Salsa Madras 12th Anniversary Training Intensive with Arun — four weekends, 15 August through 6 September, at Sukha Yoga & Wellness Studio, 65 Greenways Rd, Bishop Garden, RA Puram, Chennai.
